Putting your kids to bed could be an everyday nightmare! We all have trouble putting our kids to sleep that’s why we care at Champs Nursery to tell you .. tips to make your children sleep better and overcome bedtime issues.

5 Tips To Make Children Sleep Better

Generally, kids fall asleep within 15 to 25 minutes of going to bed. However, it’s not always applicable since it depends on how sleepy is your kid’s body on the daytime and bedtime routine the kid has been through.

Here’s how you can make bedtime an easy task…

1.    Relax Before Bedtime

Before bedtime, encourage your child to relax. There are many activities that encourage sleeping like reading a book, listening to soft music or you can get your kid to practice relaxation breathing.

If it takes your kid more than 30 minutes to sleep, then you need to start the bedtime routine a little bit earlier.

2.    Keep Older Children’s Naps Early And Short

At 3-5 years of age, your children will stop napping. But, if your kid is over 5 years old and wants to take a nap, don’t make it last more than 20 minutes in the afternoon.

If they nap past afternoon and for longer than 20 minutes, then, it’ll be really hard to get them to sleep at their bedtime at night.

3.    Set Up A Bedtime Routine

Every time on a daily basis you should start your regular bedtime routine with your kids to promote their sleep patterns. You can give them a warm bath, and read them a bedtime story while in bed. Also, it’ll really help to have relaxing music playing in the background to encourage them to sleep.

For older kids, you can have a little chat about how their day was in a smooth way before putting the lights out.

4.    Check Your Child’s Bedroom

You need to make sure that your kid’s bedroom is set for a good sleep. How? You should keep the room dimly lit and quiet to encourage sleeping.

What delays your kid’s sleeping?

Watching televisions, phones, tablets, and computer screens produce blue light that suppresses melatonin levels and delays sleepiness.

So, make a rule where your kid should put all devices aside one hour before sleeping and shut down any television or PC.

5.    Keep Regular Sleep And Wake Times

It’s hard to keep standard wake-up times and bedtimes every day. So, we recommend to always try and keep it within 1-2 hours range of the regular time you pick.

By setting certain wake-up time and bedtime, your kids’ bodies adjust to a clock pattern. Also, don’t forget to set times for weekends, holidays and schooldays.
